Welcome to Oakland Community Montessori School, where your child can experience a culturally affirming and liberatory education. Our admissions process is designed to ensure a smooth transition for your child. We invite you to explore our programs and discover the nurturing environment we offer.

We are an in-home family child care center. Enrollment is on a rolling basis. We encourage you to contact us for a tour and to complete the application documents as soon as possible.

Can I stop by any time for a school tour?To maintain the safety and wellbeing of our children, tours are held by appointment only. To schedule a tour, please CLICK HERE. Additionally, we have regular open house opportunities for you to visit the school, often outside of school hours. You can find this schedule HERE.

Who should attend the school tour?The initial tour is for adults only; your child will have an opportunity to visit the classroom and the teacher at a later date. For more information or to schedule a tour, please CLICK HERE.

How far in advance may I submit an application?Caregivers/ Families are encouraged to submit an application as early as possible, but no earlier than 6 months in advance. For example, if you wish for your child to begin school in June, the earliest you may complete an application is January of the same year. How much is tuition?As a nonprofit school, tuition revenue is essential to maintaining the quality of Oakland Community Montessori School's academic programs. What is Montessori?Montessori is a way of teaching that was developed and organized by Dr. Maria Montessori, an Italian physician. Montessori schools provide thoughtfully prepared, age-appropriate environments that nurture a child's cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development.

What will my child learn?Montessori education is specifically designed to meet children where they are developmentally as individuals. These developmental increments are based on research and study, not on popular opinion. Routines in our infant & Toddler programs promote independence, order, coordination, and concentration.
