Find out what's going on at OCMS

This week, Ms. Dorothee joined us during Wacky Wednesday to share about colors.

First, Ms. Dorothee began by asking all children to share their favorite colors. Then, we found colored pencils in the room that matched our colors. Ms. Dorothee also used our Color Box #3 to explore all the shades of colors that we could think of.

Then, Ms. Dorothee shared all sorts of plants and flowers, demonstrating where we see colors in nature. We observed red and orange flowers, green mint (that smelled great, too!), and other grasses native to Oakland. Then, we noticed that some leaves are green while others have turned yellow, orange, red, and even brown. Some leaves were multi-colored!

Next, we looked at how colors mix to make new colors. We looked through colored paper and cups, colored different colored pencils together, and use color paddles to learn how our eyes view color. A few of our scientific noticings: Red and Yellow make Orange! and Blue and Red make Purple!

We had a fantastic time together!
